Years later still being made, still one of the best, this one was Mfg July 2019

Years later still being made, still one of the best, this one was Mfg July 2019
It is not “old stock” and these are still being made brand new. Wonder why? Because it’s still that good. Even the recently updated version PG279QZ is not better. (One of the differences was backlighting changed to the edge so not quite as bright pre reviews I’ve read). This one arrived flawless to me, built July 2019. No dead or bad pixels. After initial adjustments to picture no issues with backlight glow and colors are great. The anti glare coating is well done, not over applied or thick nor so thin that too glossy. Speakers work but like basically every monitor I’ve ever seen and heard worthless for real quality sound which is a let down honestly. We have the tech to make them sound so much better so why don’t the manufacturers do that? Even TV’s are like this, you end up getting sound bars and such. The purchase itself: I want to get this out. There are several choices on Amazon for this monitor and I’m not referring to the sellers but the buying choices. You have new, used in various conditions and renewed. At just over 600$ new when I purchased this you really do look at cost options available and here’s the rub I found that had me buy it new, warranty! Not the Amazon return policy but the actual long term warranty you would turn to a year or two down the road.Asus covers this for 3 years with a very detailed pixel policy for the high end monitors like this when NEW. Zero bright dot as example and they cover the shipping both ways. Go ahead and try to find that coverage policy for a renewed or used one. You end up looking at the coverage they sell here on Amazon and elsewhere to protect your investment which is only available for new or renewed and not used at all. On new no need for it honestly but renewed, yea. Save around 50$ but pay approximately an extra 75$ so pay more for renewed? Why? Keep this in mind when shopping for these things.Lastly it arrived quickly (thanks again Amazon) but could have been package better. It comes in a very large box and well package by ASUS to start with. Amazon placed it in a bigger box with some brown paper crinkled up to keep it secure inside this bigger box. That was worthless, the outer shell of the ASUS box was rather dinged up from banging around inside this oversized box. This had me concerned and I took several pictures before breaking the seal to cover my rear incase I found breakage inside but fortunately the contents inside the ASUS box were fine. Save that ASUS box, never know if you will need to send this thing in for repair or exchange if something did go wrong.Happy with this purchase, worth the money and meets or exceeds my expectations.
