Abdolute fun. Great beginning virtual reality gogg
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an interesting instrument. My 12 year old grandson had no trouble learning to insert iPhone and finding fun things to view. The head straps required a bit of analysis because we don't usually wear stuff strapped to our heads. One tray snapped as my 14 year old grandson forced the iPhone. But we went on line and ordered a new tray. I love the Zeiss VRG for fun but wish I could use it for more meaningful experiences. I would like my instructional or intellectual "stuff". And am curious about the technology. How did it start and for what purpose?

Into the Future
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am amazed at the feeling I got when I viewed the samples with this headset! I had waited till the Zeiss came into the store as I wanted the exceptional optics that Zeiss is noted for! It was worth the wait! The universal smart phone tray holds my IPhone 6s plus, only without the protection case. The goggles are very comfortable for long periods of time. I would state though they can take a little getting used to. I wore them a little to long at first and became very dizzy after taking them off. I tried the roller coaster, an airplane simulation with dog fights, and a virtual tour in a museum. So I have not even gotten into the gaming aspects yet! These goggles are a high quality optical accessory that you will love to have!

A Much Better Alternative To A Disposable Headset
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this on sale as an entry level introduction to virtual reality. Some people complained about it being too pricey but I appreciated the use of Zeiss lenses because I wanted the best lenses available in a smartphone headset application. That being said I would suggest that being aware of your phone resolution will greatly impact your viewing experience. I have an iPhone 6+ and still deal with the screen door effect when using the headset. It helps to reduce the brightness on the phone to minimize seeing the pixels. There are phones on the market with higher resolution and when I'm ready for an upgrade I will go for the higher resolution. All in all, if you find this during a sale and use promo discounts it's a good solid alternative to the disposable options.

Seriously lacking... but...
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First let me address price. It's currently listed at 60 bucks, but on sale for just 10 dollars. That got me to buy it, because I was fooled into thinking this was actually a 60 dollar headset... It's not worth more than 10-15. And even then, probably not even worth buying. Build quality... feels pretty cheap, but the phone slides in and stays secured. Great. Design/ Fit... I mean, I have a larger than average nose, but it's not giant. The part that sits on your nose is very uncomfortable. I think if my nose were small it wouldn't be as big of an issue. I just wish they had padding around that area so the sharp edge doesn't rest on my nose. Use... There's no buttons or controller, so often need to take the phone out to just move from one thing to the next. The optics are actually not very good either. I feel fooled that this was put out by Zeiss- a company with a long history of making good optics. Crappy plastic lenses with lots of distortion if not in the exact right position. Now after saying all the bad stuff, I watched a few videos and was thoroughly entertained. The IT promo in VR on Youtube was awesome, despite it being uncomfortable and not the best visual quality. There were also some cool effects in some other apps that just really take you out of reality and make you feel somewhat connected to this virtual world. All in all. This got me interested in spending real money on a VR headset. For 10 bucks, it's worth to fiddle around with it. I'm not sure it's worth any more than that.

It's okay for simple VR watching
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is basically a glorified google cardboard. The lenses aren't adjustable, and there's no trigger button. Attempts to attach a bluetooth controller to my device didn't work out as hoped, as the included demo app didn't treat any of the controller buttons as a trigger button. This VR peripheral is okay for watching videos and perhaps playing games that do not require a trigger button. I also had issues with the fixed lenses causing the image to not appear as it should. This was more an issue with individual apps, but adjusting lenses would've helped. I got this on sale for about $20, and it's great for very simple VR... but don't expect much from it.

My Critique
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I honestly tried 3 different VR headsets from Google Cardboard to this Zeiss VR One Plus. The phone as screen VR headsets both were difficult to focus my vision and I believe are fundamentally flawed for that reason. I read many of the reviews before buying but the reviews did not characterize the obvious limitations of the 3D VR phone experience. I happily found the recently released and 5 times as expensive Oculus GO which solved my focus and 3D VR troubles. I believe the built in screen was the key, I have had no headache or focus problems with the GO and I am overall thrilled with what it can do. If I cant see clearly view the VR made the Zeiss headset unusable to me, regardless of the price difference. I believe that’s what matters most.
