    Product malfunction, ridicoulous customer service

    Product malfunction, ridicoulous customer service
I bought 4 pairs, 3 as presents for my friends and one for me.Within the first week, my pair had a malfunction, left bud stopped playing sounds, when listening to music only right bud works, but when taking the left bud of the ear music stops, so sensor works. After a quick Google search and going through some forums I found out that many other people have the same problem with the left bud.I called customer service, they suggested factory reset and repair it to the phone, It did not work, then the operator suggested I go online and open a claim, so I did.For almost a month I'm going back and forth on the email with them.Initially they wanted me to do a factory reset again and some other more complex manipulation, nothing worked. After they asked for pictures, then they asked for a video demonstrating the problem...ridiculous..how you want me to demonstrate this? You take them off the ears and the sensor stops the music, then its just a headset you don't hear the music clearly through the video...they don't just take your word that you have a problem...why would I lie about it if it would work? I sent them pictures showing no damage even a ridicoulous video...then they asked for my contact info 2 weeks ago, I provided that and then silence...no info that they are replacing it, no tracking number no reply to email...I just hope other 3 pairs that I gave as presents will not brake down..I do not recomand this product.

These are really good for their price . I wanted something wireless and luckily I had a oneplus that can help me achieve the "apple experience " in terms of wireless earphones .

You get them and pop open the lid press the pair button and they instantly show up on your oneplus . Setup is super striaghtforward that when you pop open the lid it insta pairs and plays an audio cue in your ears that it's there . Easiest and most painless experience in terms of pairing and picking them up. If you owned an iPhone and missed the airpods for the convinience factor , then these are a good alternative if you now own a oneplus m

The controls are a little underwhelming , you can only double tap to skip track , pause or mute or bring up the assistant . You have both ears to customize , sadly there's no volume up down . But I mean you can pair the assistant and ask it to turn down the volume , so it's still possible.

The fit for me is important , you see I hate earphones with plugs on the end . They just never fit my ear canals and end up hurting . No matter what type or brand , they always hurt my weird earshape. So when I got these I was glad they're like airpods gen 1 / pixel buds . If you like the fit of those then these are good enough . A little bigger than what I like , so sometimes if you're lying in bed they can fall off , but when you're walking around and there's gravity they're pretty sturdy .

In terms of sound , these are pretty open and leaky . That's good for someone like me who commutes to work and wants to hear the environment around him so I don't get run over by a bus . Probably not my go to choice for a plane . They have bass , not super exaggerated and very high highs so some songs can sound siblant if you like to max out the volume . Overall I find these pleasent . The mids are there , but the soundstage feels a little closer than I would like it to . However for daily commute and listening to trash pop / metal , these are good enough .

The battery life is yet to be tested , but I've been working all day today and haven't had a reason to complain , they held up just fine . And still have plenty more for 3 more days of work .

If you notice I spent more time about the fit finish and experience rather than the sound. That's because these are wireless earphones , if you're buying them as your only audio source and banking on them being everything , then you're in the wrong place . These are just good enough in terms of wireless sound close to airpods in terms of quality , but are a little more siblant .

So tldr , buy this if you have a oneplus and care about the convinience of wireless audio with fast pairing oneplus eco systemy stuff , and more importantly if you like the fit of apple earbuds / airpods / Google pixel buds .

When I originally placed my order I realized that my OnePlus 7T was not compatible with the OnePlus Buds app plugin due to it being the T-Mobile version. Due to the lack of app support, I had no way of updating them nor was I able to customize the touch controls. That being said, out of the box they still sounded much better that I would've expected from an open ear design. Overall the sound-quality out of the box still lead over the AirPods by a fair margin and were worth their price. After flashing my cellphones firmware to the Global Oxygen OS ROM (look at XDA for the tutorial if you're interested), they had a chance to update and the sound is surprisingly even better. Before the update the bass was much stronger and almost overpowering in most genres and the call quality was average. After updating them I was able to control the double touch feature and the bass is still present but not nearly as overpowering as it was prior to updating. The main improvement came to the call quality after the update. I speak to my grandmother daily and before I updated them she had a hard time hearing me and described the sound as echoy. After the update however she was completely unaware that I was not talking to her over the buds and was very impressed with how much better they sounded.

The fit overall is slightly larger than AirPods, meaning that if AirPods were too small for you, the OnePlus buds would likely be a better fit. Battery life on the buds is nothing short of impressive. I typically listen around 60-70% volume and I can easily get a full work day out of them (working remotely for a call center). The case has a very strong grip on the buds as well meaning that a drop likely wont cause the buds to fly out. Either bud can be used on its own and the connection is very fast, at least the fastest I've seen myself. The ear-detection for play and pause is also impressively accurate. On my original Galaxy Buds if you were in a dark room the light sensor would usually not notice that I had removed them and would keep playing but I have not had this issue with the OnePlus buds. The case itself is also very well built and I would expect it to have to take heavy damage before the case would start experiencing problems

With everything stated above, if you have a OnePlus phone, these are an easy recommendation for phone-calls and great sound quality without the rubber tips. If you do not have a OnePlus device, I would avoid them until the Hey Melody app to control them is released. The overall quality without the update would've been a 3/5 and there is no way around this rating if you don't have a OnePlus phone. Once the app releases though, these are an absolute steal for their price and I doubt you would be disappointed.

Reviewed in Mexico on December 21, 2020
