It great! Def the one to get.
I upgraded from the series 3 as it just didn’t have enough memory to keep doing updates. The watch is much clearer and a total upgrade.I’ll update more but I included a picture with a size comparison of the 40 and the 44. For my wrist the 40 was totally fine. I used it for a few days and was good with it. I noticed the 44 was on sale on Amazon and decided to buy from them. I think the 40 is a fine size though. I ultimately am keeping the 44 because of the deal I got. The bigger size is nice to see the camera app to take timed photos, read texts, etc.I really like the voice to text option offered on the watch. I walk my dog often and this gives me access to my messages without needing to pull out my phone and hold the leash with the other. I also like receiving all of my notifications on my wrist. It has been great for the pandemic when we aren't wanting to contaminate all of our stuff by pulling our phones in and out. There is a handwash timer built in which is cool as it reminds me when I get home to wash my hands and it also times it for 20 seconds. The 20 second timer isn't all that accurate and quits in the middle sometimes because it assumes you stopped washing but overall a good idea that will probably continue to be updated.I have been doing the apple fitness + which is part of the latest apple watch OS. It was offered as a free trial since I bought a watch during the holiday season. It works much quicker with the SE than it did with the 3. I am enjoying the various exercises that I am able to do during a time when we can't go to a gym. These workouts are probably more in the "beginner" range but I am really enjoying the "HIIT" and "Dance"

Nearly 7 years into release, decided to finally check out the apple watch platform. Went through number of fit bits and other fitness trackers that did fine step tracking but notifications and other functionalities were never smooth.

The apple watch has a gorgeous but fragile screen, seriously get a screen protector right away as it's so easy to bang up. Learning and managing the device is easy as there is a dedicated app on the phone side of things and notifications have some hiccups at times with small delays between when it shows up on phone vs. watch but absolutely reliable so far.

Step and activity tracking is on par with other devices but fitbit does better sleep tracking. The app ecosystem is where it really starts pulling away from the field; music controls, phone calls, gps, mobile payment, and some smart home devices.

While these are all quite useful and add some value to the overall experience, i will also say that i have not noticed one knockout use case the same way other Apple devices have done in the past like mobile web browsing on the original iphone or the first time watching movies and such on an ipad.

Everything is incremental as a companion to the phone, macbook, apple tv experience but never the star.

There's the little GPS buzz to remind you of an upcoming turn, the extra convenience of unlocking iphone and macbook, or taking a phone call in a pinch, etc these all add and enhance the primary device and am still waiting for something where the watch is the undeniable star by itself. Apple payments comes close but the phone is just as convenient if you have both on you.

The competition may do step tracking and sleep tracking fine if not better, but there is still a lot of headroom for apple watch to grow.

Battery life has been fine and usually charge it once a day.

Diary of a Fitness Watch Addict. My name is Joe and I am a fitness watch addict. So far I have owned a Garmin Vivoactive 4, Garmin Venu, Huawei GT 2 (2 of them), Fitbit Blaze, Galaxy Active 2, Apple SE, and a host of watches for under $100 that promise the world (but give very little.)

    Lets talk.....

Garmin watches. Neither Garmin watch that I owned could ply music direct to earbuds. No matter what I tried. For some reason, everytime I tried to set this feature uo, it failed. It will get you outside though becuase you have to go out there and gain GPS coordinates in order to listen to music. I don't know why; as an addict I just did as directed. It never worked. I purchases earbuds Garmin suggested and....nothing. Every once in a whil It would work, but only briefly and then,,,,,time to go outside again. The Vivoactive screen is as washed out as any I have ever seen. Battery life is metsa-metsa and that is if you don't do much. I imagine if I was able to get music it would have cut the battery life even more. The venu has a much better screen; however, the cost in battery life is significant.

Garmin watches remind me of Microsoft computers. Spend more time diddling with them then using them. Sold mine on eBay.

The Huawei GT 2. Now there is a watch. Well made, beautiful to look at, battery life forever, syncs music flawlessly. I would love to have kept this watch. Unfortunately I don't live in China where this watch works. In the usa this watch will only count active calories and is extremely arbitrary and capricous regarding how many you are going to get. Frustrating as hell. Don't bother with customer service. When you tell them you are in the US you will be sent to HOLD purgatory. The one thing that this watch could do is estimate treadmill distance. I mean accurate to 1/50th of a mile. Garmin was 10 percent off every 1/4 mile and no matter how many times I would enter stridelength or the correct distance traveled on the treadmills display it would again display a significant error. Like I said, if you like dicking around with your fitness watch.

Fitbits Fitbits. I lost 50 lbs when my wife bought me one of their first models. That wrist-wife had me up walking at night to finish my goals before midnight. Now...eh...I mean monthly Fitbit fees. I don't think so.

Galaxy active 2. Here is a watch that does everything/nothing. Again, if you like dicking with watches. First is the calorie counting which is horrible on every watch I have had. This watch is so horrible at it that, wven though it is monitoring heatrate and Sp02 your results are a joke. Don't believe me. Take the watch off, start a workout, and watch the unearned calories start adding even though you are doing nothing. A million workouts to choose from. Try adding boxing or a host of other workouts to the watch. Not going to happen! Also, because their calorie counting is so flawed they removed total calories burned from the watch so you can't view them. Sold mine on eBay.

So, let me save you. The Apple watch SE. Thank you God! Battery life is crap and promised to be crap so no disappointment. Syncs to Apple SE phone flawlessly; like without your help. Every workout is listed and has a specialized formula for calorie count that is amazingly accurate. Frankly I am so happy with this watch I could go on for hours. So if you feel that you are burning 300 calories a day in frustration sweat while you are trying to get your newest fitness watch to monitor your health, try the apple. Pay a little more save yourself the aggrivation.

After a lot of research and looking in stores, I went ahead and bought the Fitbit Versa 3. I got it on sale for $200. I just couldn't justify the $309 price tag for the Apple Watch. After having the Fitbit for less than a week and being frustrated with the unresponsive touch screen, the interface between the Fitbit and my iPhone (slow, kept unpairing and having to pair again, would disconnect in the middle of pairing), and the scratchy back (where the sensors are located). I ordered the Apple Watch, which was now on sale at Amazon for $249.99. It was not due to arrive for about 2 weeks, but it arrived about 10 days early. Set up was super easy and I have been very happy with it every since. I still think there are a few things the Fitbit actually does a bit better. I don't care for the 3 pre-set goals that Apple has chosen (and which can't be changed) and prefer the 3 pre-set goal categories on the Fitbit. Also, the Fitbit has sleep tracking that actually tracks sleep cycles, not just whether or not you are sleeping (like the Apple Watch). However, I never got to try the sleep tracking on the Fitbit because the watch was so scratchy and uncomfortable. Apparently there are apps that can be purchased in the $5 range for the Apple Watch that can monitor sleep cycles. But anyhow, the pure joy of using the Apple Watch, the responsiveness of the touch screens, the full color display, and everything else the Apple Watch does and does so well made it well worth it, especially at such a discounted price. I feel like I got it for a steal. And if you are a Fitbit user thinking of switching to Apple Watch, or trying to decide between the two, definitely go for the Apple Watch. It's worth it.

Watch arrived in perfect condition in good time. Sadly it won't pair with my husband's phone. A 5. The watch needs
6S or above. My husband uses his phone for calls only, so this is going to put us considerably, and unnecessarily, out of pocket.
My fault, I should have done more research, but has taken the edge off a Christmas present for my husband, who is 83.
