Brand new TV, less than 1 hour and problem develops!
Edit 9/17:First off, I would give Amazon 10 stars if possible. After the Sony tech support debacle, I decided to contact Amazon who cheerfully and immediately sent me out a new TV at no charge. Awesome service - I should have thought of this first! Sony responded to my initial review below and I did receive a call since I had opened a case - but they wanted me to send them video and picture proof, then they would later make a determination as to whether I would have to send the unit in to a service repair center, or schedule a tech for in-home repair. Either of these options would have taken weeks and Amazon avoided all of that hassle. The new TV has been working successfully for a week now. Here is my updated review on the working unit:ProsIncredible picture based on OLED technology - very good contrast, bright & vibrant colors.Vast array of picture calibration options - from presets to fine tuning parameters for advanced users.Sound out of the TV speakers is actually decent, but I quickly used a Samsung HW-Q90R soundbar for Dolby Atmos & surround sounds.TV remote is easy to use.The height of the TV is adjustable if using the feet (this is the good news), but look under cons for the bad news.ConsTV screen is highly reflective so beware when using in a room with high ambient light (lots of windows for instance) because you will see lots of reflection. As some others have stated, the picture is not as bright as an LG or other brands, but you can somewhat overcome this by using "Vibrant" as a picture preset, and other tweaks. I also turned off the auto-dimming.This TV does have an eARC HDMI port, which passes through all the latest sound options and you can use this to control a soundbar. Sony calls this their Bravia Sync...I connected this to the eARC of the soundbar (soundbar updated to latest firmware) and this connection is not always reliable. The TV will sometimes control the soundbar, turning it on and controlling volume, but sometimes it decides it doesn't want to. Maybe this connection is more reliable with a Sony soundbar but we don't have one of those in order to test.As for the adjustable feet - there are no instructions included with the TV on how to adjust these feet for different height - we finally had to go to Sony's website to figure it out and it's not intuitive at all. This is a simple omission in the included documentation.Did I mention that Sony support is a bit disappointing? The IR receiver for the TV is located along the bottom edge...if you are using this TV on its feet (not wall-mount), even at the highest height setting and using ANY soundbar placed in front of it, the top of the soundbar will most likely obstruct the IR receiver. So, I will probably need to buy a wall mount just to get the TV positioned high enough so that the bottom edge will be over the top of the soundbar in order to be controllable with the remote. If you are a gamer, note this TV does not have HDMI 2.1 support.Overall:This is either the #1 or #2 pick OLED TV based on worldwide reviews so I don't think you will be disappointed. The picture is amazing, especially for animated movies (but carefully consider a picture preset option; for instance we found "Cinema" to be way too subdued and colors were a bit washed out). I don't think there is such a thing as the perfect TV and while this comes close, for some of the cons I can't quite go 5 stars. And again, it's worth mentioning Amazon's amazing customer support :-)Have always purchased Samsung TVs, but decided on the 65" Sony A8H OLED for our everyday viewing. Less than 1 hour out of the box, the TV developed a bright green vertical line along the right hand side. This appears when you turn the TV on, and regardless of input source so it is definitely a problem with the TV itself. I researched this issue and it turns out, this is a very common problem with LED TVs of any brand.I then contacted Sony support, who are making me jump through all kinds of hoops to upload videos, pictures, etc. who will then in turn "review my case" to determine what steps to take next. So in other words, it will take me at least a week before I can even hope to get someone out to perform a repair - unacceptable for a known issue.Despite its size, I will probably return to Amazon and buy a new one rather than messing with inept tech support from Sony. If the new TV is problem free, I will consider updating this review. Shame, because as others have noted, the picture quality and black levels are amazing.
    Thank you for your feedback

What an awesome and amazing unit! We're not technical audio and video experts by any means.

But if the BEST picture and sound from a TV is tops on your list and of the highest priority, you will NOT be disappointed with this Sony AH8 OLED Ultra 4K HDTV!

If you're a serious or ultimate gamer, LG OLED is a better overall choice.

But again, if you're NOT a gamer like us, this unit is YOUR baby! Absolutely breathtaking and stunning picture and sound quality, right out of the box!

This unit is THAT great. We tweaked and calibrated the unit a tad, based on my readings, research and technical recommendations. But this was all too easy
      and very straightforward to accomplish.

In closing, we love everything about this amazing OLED 4K HDTV.

So incredibly razor sharp, detailed, crisp, with superb stunning and very lifelike colors and the blackest blacks and infinite contrast we've ever seen. It's without a doubt, the BEST high performance HDTV we've ever own.

To test our new setup, we took in Marvel's mega blockbuster, "The Avengers Endgame. And talk about a true cinematic adventure and experience!!

We were completely BLOWN AWAY! The sight and sound experience was truly out of this world spectacular!

Hard to believe Sony can actually improve on this incredible level of cinematic perfection! Talk about delivering the goods!!!

Thank you, Sony for this product offering. Sony has truly hit a GRAND SLAM with this unit. Get it. You simply won't be disappointed.

As for the audio, Sony's Acoustic Surface Audio is very innovative and also delivered in spades. The sound field was very wide, realistic and multidimensional and has to be truly experienced first hand.

For our purpose, this technology more than meets our sound expectations. No need for an external sound bar or even an cumbersome and dedicated audio video receiver, though you could of course.

We have always been loyal Sony XBR fans going back years. Make no mistake, this OLED 4K HDTV is as good as it gets in terms of bringing a truly movie like, cinematic experience to your home.

The Sony AH8 OLED Ultra 4K HDTV is THAT good. Also, whether it's turned ON or OFF, this unit is one sexy, gorgeous, ultra thin, black baby to behold.

Will enhance any interior decor. It has ours!! Well done, Sony! Highly recommended.

      UPDATE : May 2021

Sony just recently released their new 2021 top of the line, AJ90 OLED model.

However, again, if you're not a serious gamer, the 2020 A8H specs every bit as well as the new 2021 model, costing hundreds of dollars more.

Just read the very detailed review by TechReview today, in a very comprehensive side-by-side comparison of both the 2020 A8H and Sony's latest for 2021, their AJ90.

This includes the most important attributes, notably overall picture quality, theatrical /movie, TV, and PRO sports performance, sharpness, and sound.

From a sheer performance perspective, the AH8 is identical to the newer, more expensive AJ90, with the latter featuring HDMI 2.1 inputs to support next GEN gaming modes.

So, unless you MUST have the latest and greatest version, save yourself the $money$ and just get the A8H!

You'll be glad you did! After reading the latest review, I'm very grateful I did and even more happy than ever.

And no, no need to thank me for this either!

      Best regards.

I'll start with some back story. My TV prior to this was a 60 inch Vizio I got on Black Friday 7 years ago. It was a solid TV. It was still working when I took it out. It had 2 dark spots in the bottom center of the screen where my young son would go put his hands on the TV when he was very young. You couldn't see them all the time, but in dark scenes it was bad and getting worse. I started saving as I knew I wanted an OLED TV. I saved for 2 years and then started watching reviews.

I was down to this TV, the Sony A8H and the LG C10. The biggest reason I opted for the Sony was built in Android/Google TV. I know in a lot of reviews people kind of give it a hard time, but I absolutely love it. I had a Tivo Stream 4k hooked to my Vizio, and loved the interface. I'm not a pc gamer, so I didn't feel I would need the HDMI 2.1 features.

Getting to the TV. Oh man, it's excellent. The very first thing I watched for a test was an episode of the Mandalorian. Where Rosario Dawson wields her 2 white saber's in the opening dark scene shown in Dolby Vision bright. I was blown away. People say once you go OLED you never go back. I can see why. Everything looks amazing on this TV. Sound is pretty good. I have a sound bar, but also have young kids that have early bedtimes, so I rarely use it. Most of my TV listening is done through Sony RF headphones. During the day though when I don't use my headphones, the sound is good. I can't complain at all with the level of sound, and have never had the sound above 30. I don't feel you need to have a sound bar for this TV. Is a sound bar better sound, sure, but this TV has solid, adequate sound, and think it will stand on it's own.

One thing to keep in mind with most of the new TV's is the stand. Most of the TV's have went to a 2 feet stand. I don't recall the spacing right off, but it could be an issue with someone's current TV stand. I knew mine would not have an issue. By default, the feet keep the TV very lowly slung, but you can adjust the feet to raise the TV up high enough for a sound bar to slip under it.

The only complaint I can make is not about the TV, but about who Amazon shipped it with. NSD was the freight carrier. It took me 3 weeks to get it from when I ordered it. It sit 1.5 hours away from me for 2 weeks. They missed multiple scheduled delivery times never calling or anything, and acted like I was bothering them to get it rescheduled. Although, it did arrive, without a scratch on it.

If your on the fence about ordering this TV, go for it. With the new models announced at CES, you will likely find this on discount. I got this TV on sale on Amazon the Sunday after Black Friday for $1,798. I'd say a deal like that will be had again for someone if you keep an eye on it.

This is a fantastic piece of technology. I am amazed at the sound quality coming from a 1.5" thick rear panel. Absolutely great. Video is crisp on a pencil thin screen. Paired with an android phone, setup was a breeze.

Menu is slick and all apps that I've tried run well.

Overall, super happy with busting the bank a bit for this one. Worth the price tag.

We bought this as a Covid present for our good behaviour! Haven't gone anywhere for over a year. May as well make our confinement enjoyable! Delivery was very fast. TV was packed well and not damaged. Set up was easy although the size makes it awkward . We were very careful and playing with it immediately. Love the voice command feature. Picture is AMAZING! Colour is clear, bright and the the best I've seen. Should have bought this 6 months ago.

Watching an old M.A.S.H. episode and you'd swear they were in my livingroom! Very impressed with the picture quality. I should have upgraded sooner. Stevenson's Electronics a good seller. Tv was in perfect condition when it arrived. Coupling this with a Sony 4K Blu-ray Player (UBPX700/CA) for maximum effect. Will update on how well the two perform together. The blu-ray had the most features and was a good price point. Bought it from somewhere else though, as I'm having trouble with Amazon lately.

I love this TV - in our other home we have LG OLED and this Sony at least as good or better - and, the sound system is superb even without a soundbar - very impressed..
