It is a clear, oil type substance.
For my next purchase, I will choose an oil with color.
Also If you have raw steel you can use this stuff to make a protective layer that's pretty tenacious and artistic looking.
This stuff is not cheap, but in my opinion is well worth the price.
Make sure you follow the directions: Use outside!
Easy to use: best if you have a pressure washer, it will take off all old paint, stains, or oils. For older pieces I washed them down once, let then dry a day, then washed them down a second time, let them dry again. Then spread some old cardboard (save those big Amazon boxes and flatten them), put the bench on top, and spread the teak oil with a paintbrush (pour it into an old sour cream cup to make it easier). Wait a day to let it dry - be prepared, this first time you do this your furniture will be “thirsty” and suck up A LOT of oil: the 2-seater beach used almost the whole container in the first coat. Next day wipe of any excess and paint on a thin coat again. Let it dry a day, wipe off extra and voila - you are good to go for about 2 years. If you do this every year you need very little teak oil. Avoid using microfiber cloth for wiping.
With this treatment we have had our outdoor furniture for 12-24 years. This product is GREAT!
