Fast speeds at an affordable price!
I have 10 devices connected to the internet through my router. Three of these are connected via Ethernet cables and the other seven are connected wirelessly. The internet service plan I pay for provides for up to 100mbps download speeds, but I actually do get faster speeds on some devices. The router that I was using was purchased back in 2011. We were having major issues with the ROKU device located in the master bedroom and I could not overcome the poor download speed. So I purchased a new device for the family room and swapped it out with the MBR device, moving that one to the garage. We were still getting very poor speeds in the MBR and the garage was terrible as well. I bought a ROKU TV for the MBR but the download speed was still a problem. So, I started to research routers which is a major task. Finally I came up with one that quickly made it to the top of my list of possibles, and the tp-link AC1900 Archer C80 soon made it's way to my shopping cart. WOW! What a difference! Speed problem resolved!! I love this router and will highlight the before and after speed results for each of my devices down below, but first let me tell you why I think this router is special.Pros:● it has 4 beefy antennas (7.5” x 5/8”)● the antennas are omni-directional● the incorporated technology optimizes my wireless connections● it has dual bands of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz● I set it up with one Wi-Fi SSID which allows the router to automatically connect to the best Wi-Fi band● I also have the option to set it up with individual SSID's which I tested successfully● it serves multiple devices at once and makes each stream very efficient● I have ample Gigabit LAN Ports (4) of which I am currently using 3● I set it up quickly without any issues using the tether app, finalizing and rechecking things later using the router website● I was able to set up a separate guest network with options to choose from● I now have good wireless coverage outside my home as wellCons:● it does not have a USB port but I have never used that feature on my previous router so I will not even miss itThe Test Numbers (mbps download speeds) and locations of devices on the day of installation: (I have included a photo of our floor plan)● PC in my office (BR#3) – Ethernet: 120 old router, 119.9 tp-link● Laptop in my office (BR#3) – wireless: 30.9 old router, 120 tp-link● Guest Room (BR#2) – wireless: 30 old router, 40 tp-link● Android Box in Florida Room – Ethernet: 119.4 old router, 122.7 tp-link● LG Smart TV in Florida Room – wireless: 54.5 old router, 75.4 tp-link● ROKU Ultra Box in Florida Room – Ethernet: 80 old router, 79 tp-link● ROKU TV in Master Bedroom – wireless: 8 old router, 76 tp-link● ROKU Stick in Garage – wireless: 6 old router, 64 tp-link● 2 OnePlus 7Pro phones – wireless: 40 old router, 119.6 tp-linkThe numbers tell it all as our problems were solved. I paid $89.99 for this router and it is worth every penny and more. We've been using this product for just about 30 days without issues. Would I buy this product again? ASOLUTELY and without hesitation. I love it!
