    Apple to Garmin
I bought this Garmin watch because I was training for triathlons. Switching from an Apple Watch Series 4 to the Garmin was a bit of a transition at first. Honestly, I hated it for about the first week. Once you get used to the button and menu lay out though it becomes more apparent that the device is really good at what it does. After doing tons of research on other watches and devices I do think this is one of the best options on the market. It works really well when it comes to tracking and being consistent. If you’re into structured workouts coming from training peaks it’s phenomenal. One thing that the videos don’t cover very well is how you can create a structured work out and it will actually tell you if you’re low or high on your pace during the activity/interval. If you’re coming from Apple, you may think that having a touchscreen is superior, but if you’ve ever tried to do a swimming workout you realize really quickly how a button might be a better option. Also, you may not realize how amazing it is to have your screen on all the time. Or, how much better it is to not have to charge your watch every single day. The battery life is insane! Like you can do 12 GPS workouts in a week and probably still have battery life. This watch also interacts really well with my Tacx trainer, you can broadcast your heart rate, or completely control the trainer with the watch.Things that I’m not a fan of: GPS is not as accurate as the Apple Watch, if you don’t crank down the band you’re going to have trouble getting an accurate heart rate reading. The training metrics can get pretty annoying. For some reason it’s set up to give you an effort level at the first 3/4 mile of your run. Nothing like seeing a notification that says unproductive when you’re in the middle of your warm-up. If you do trails, and don’t turn off your VO2 Max calculation it will immediately affect your overall VO2 Max. If you’re buying into this whole pulse ox sensor BS it’s almost completely useless at sea level. If you want to conserve battery life you need to turn it off or use it while you’re sleeping. The Strength activity section of the app is really cool, but doesn’t work well at all. It basically never tracks your reps correctly. A great concept, but really frustrating. Spotify it is pretty clumsy, and not as easy to get to as it is on the Apple Watch, but it does download a lot faster and I never had any issues with music playback. (Have on the Apple Watch). All that said, I returned the watch. A lot of the above mentioned features are also on the previous model. Mant of the new watches that have come out Coros, Polar, other Garmins have similar if not identical set ups at a lower price point. I will probably own this watch again at some point, but when a new model is released and the price comes down a little bit.

Great multisport activity watch. I use it for running, hiking, trail running, biking, swimming, & the general measurement of my heart rate, sleep, stress, steps, etc.
GPS is more accurate than IPhone 13 & Apple Watch plus battery lasts days even with gps use, not less than a day/15-18 hours like Apple Watch plus metrics & data is much more in depth.
I’ve wanted a Garmin Fenix since the Fenix 2. Got a Garmin vivoactive which worked great for 2 years til the battery died, then Apple Watch. Finally got a Fenix 6 & love it.
The only thing I dislike is the charge cord is super short like 1.5” long & the plug is in the back instead of a charge cradle like my previous Garmin & Apple Watch. It could be a bit thinner, but maybe not for the battery life & wrist sensors. The wristband could be higher quality/more rugged & durable for an almost $700 Watch.
If you’re looking for a smartwatch first & multi sport tracker second, get an Apple Watch or Samsung galaxy. Fenix is a multisport & activity tracker first & smart watch second.
Otherwise it had great feature & function wise & I love how it has race predictor based on your logged performance & can help you time your goals. The body battery level & recovery time is nice too to make sure you’re not overtraining.

I have had mixed experiences with Garmin GPS watches dating back to 2007. Mostly positive experiences with Garmin Forerunner 305 & 310 but did not like the Vivoactive HR+, which I had many issues with the software, GPS, watch faces and it eventually stopped working. So I was skeptical before I bought another Garmin, especially spending almost $600. However, I am glad that i did because this watch is incredible!

      Positives:
      - Software is very easy to set up and use
      - GPS tracking is outstanding (picks up right away and never loses signal)
      - Watch face gives me everything I need (HR, steps, calories, weather, time, date, battery life, etc.)
      - Battery life is great
      - Music easy to set up (I have Spotify premium, not sure about if you don't have this)
      - Easy access to many useful features including: weather, altitude, sunrise/sunset times, notifications, more
      - Incredible tracking stats for runs, bike rides, indoor activities, treadmill, hikes, custom workouts, etc.
      - Customizable watch faces you can edit and that are easily available from Garmin store
      - Advanced features like find my phone, maps, locatiuon saving, wallet (can pay w/watch)
      - HR tracking is very good, similar to strap I use for Orangetheory (watch has best HR tracking I have experienced by far for non-strap)
      - Notifications from phone are well done
      - Calculates and tracks VO2, stress level, aerobic/anaerobic training effect and much more
      - Automatically tracks elevation, mapping, laps, HR, HR zones and cadence for all activity

      Negatives:
      - The only thing is that it is sort of big and I can't wear it sleeping (but it's actually less bulky than I was expecting and I never intended to wear it sleeping so this is barely a negative for me)

My husband is obsessed with this watch. He obsessed over it for a year until I finally let him buy it. He’s an archery hunter which was the main drive for him to get it. I went deer and elk hunting with him and on both of those trips he was able to see how far we had gone, elevation gained and lost, and because he had started a point/trip from the truck we were able to find our way back (we would have been totally lost haha). His dad was with him on another elk hunt and thought it was so cool that my mother-in-law had to buy him one so he would stop talking about it. They’re that amazing.
The app you use with the watch is really nice and easy to use. My husband also really likes to see his sleep and stress levels. He never takes it off.
The battery life is awesome, even when using the gps tracking almost all day for the hunts. I think he said when gps was on for the hunts the battery lasted 5 days. When it’s just day to day I think he charges it about every two weeks and it charges within a few hours.
My favorite thing about this watch is that it doesn’t look chunky or huge on his wrist. Unlike some other brands like Suunto.
10/10 would recommend. Especially for the outdoorsmen.

I really like this watch. I've been using simpler / cheaper Garmin watches (Vivoactive) in the past - they were quite good for their price, bit this one is worth the 2x or 3x money.

      Pros:
      * Great activity tracker - steps, floors, all that stuff.
      * HRM is quite good - compared it with a chest strap HRM and they are very close. Just need to keep it tight on the wrist.
      * Sleep tracking is excellent.
      * Battery life is phenomenal! I haven't tried the hyper-efficient expedition mode yet, just regular mode for daily activities, and I have to charge it rarely (maybe once per week).
      * Supports all kinds of sensors, including bike power meters. Can be used as a replacement for a cycling computer when on vacation.

      Cons:
      * Heavier than the smaller watches I used in the past, but I got used to it after a week.

This is by far the most powerful Garmin watch I've ever bought. It uses a combination of the buttons on the side of the watch to go down into submenus and up and down buttons on the left side to go up or down the menus. The tracking with the watch for workouts, sleep, active times are amazing with its breadth of the information available.

The pics shows the menus and information available, including notifications. One really important thing for runners is how easy and quick is this watch to sync to the GPS on the satellites and in Vancouver it does it very fast, and doesn't really seem to drop the signal much. It doesn't matter it doesn't have touchscreen, it saves battery life that way.

Yes, you can also use it to track swimming and biking too.

It can sync to a variety of apps including Garmin Connect and Strava through the sync from the Garmin app.

There are literally so much information available to the user for health tracking purposes I don't have enough time or space to review it.

It's the best Garmin watch I've bought out of several I've purchased over the years including all the top end 5 through 7 series watches and would definitely buy again.

Watch the video to see how pressing the buttons goes through several of the me us and notifications.
