- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2018This Chromebook has everything you could want and then some. The quad processors are fast and might even be overkill for something as easy running as Chrome’s OS. It boots up in seconds and is just fast connecting to a WiFi network. The time from boot up to checking email takes less than a minute. It’s fast and reliable with a beautiful HD screen for watching all your Netflix and YouTube. It meets the battery life expectations more or less, and it is quick to charge, normally only about an hour or so.
The backlit keyboard does the job, but isn’t a major selling point and the quality makes me think it was an after thought. (Can you turn this off to conserve battery power?) In the same regard, the touch screen is great but really gets little to no use as this Chromebook is really best used as a laptop. If you plan on using the touch screen as your main method of navigation, be prepared to clean it often. Fingerprints and grease will make the screen seem grainy and you might not as well even have an HD screen. Just be mindful of keeping your hands clean during use and you should be alright.
The one thing that I don’t understand is the lack of an HDMI cable port. For the price of this Chromebook, it really should come with one. Sure you can buy a Chromecast and sync to alternate screens that way, but having a lack of screen-mirroring options holds this product back.
A Chromebook that is comparable to this and cheaper in price but similar in function is the Acer Chromebook 14, which I recommend you take a look at if you are tight on budget.

DO NOT BUY FROM ACER:
After 2 repairs the Chromebook still does not work. The screen goes black. I called Acer to get a refund on my Chromebook and Acer told me they do not refund money on their products. I can send it back in for repair again and they will determine what happens next.
I’ve had this Chromebook since October it replaced a 2014 HP Chromebook. I like the Chromebook and its features, great price too. That being said, this Chromebook has been sent back to Acer for repairs twice for the same problem. The problems being every time I received a notification popup my screen would go black and I would have to reboot and log back into the Chromebook to fix the screen. I also had a problem with Bluetooth not working so I could not use my phone to unlock my Chromebook.
Following the Amazon process, I contacted Acer support, completed their form and they sent me a return authorization email…shipping/fix/return took 6 days with a fix of reseating the Display cable, unfortunately that did not fix the problem. The 2nd fix I went through Acer phone support, some on phone diagnosing and they sent me an email with return information. This time they replaced the mainboard with shipping/fix/return taking 8 days. The notification popup problem is fixed, and Bluetooth phone unlock now works correctly.
Acer support was easy to navigate, the people I spoke were helpful, and their return process was simple. I guess I just got a bad mainboard because everything is now working correctly.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2018Wow. This is seriously a great Chromebook. The only thing that would have made this better is being able to flip the monitor all the way around so it all acts like a tablet. I really want to give it 5 stars but that's the only thing stopping me.
The screen is HUGE for a Chromebook. It's as big as my wife's $800 i7 laptop. HA!
The battery life is great.
The charger ports are USB-C just like the latest Android phones. That means you can use your phone charger to charge it! (It doesn't charge nearly as fast with phone chargers but, hey, it charges.) AND it has that USB-C port on BOTH sides of the book! YES! Don't you hate it when your power source is on the right but your power port is on the left? Or vice versa? That essentially makes the cord shorter and it gets in the way and in bends the cord too much near the tip and it puts a lot of stress on the port and...no, that's enough. It's never on the wrong side on this Chromebook!
The SD card slot is for the micro SD cards. The same exact ones you use in your phone. That means you can transfer large files or many files back and forth fairly easily.
The backlit keys are really nice. Kinda makes the keyboard look all bedazzled...but in a good way.
You can definitely use Android apps on this. Maybe not all but Evernote and Boom Beach both work.
Some people have mentioned the sharp edges. Yeah, they're a little sharp but you're not going to get cut. It's a very minor characteristic.
The resolution is really nice. I do need glasses to see but I actually use them so I set it to the max resolution making everything somewhat small but it's really nice. So much real estate. The colors are really good, too.
The sound is better than I expected. I watch Youtube videos on it with my daughter and I've never had a problem hearing anything. I'm going a little deaf and it's still loud enough for me.
To wrap it up, I would absolutely buy this again. I hope it lasts me a few years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thee BEST speakers!
Took me ages to find a laptop that would work for me. After some researching I decided to go with this one. I bought open box and I'm happy with it so far.
I only use it for casual day to day stuff like movies and youtube. A little bit of online web searching. Touchscreen is great, I'm glad I went with that option as its handy to use if you dont have a mouse. The HD screen is really vibrant too, only slight issue is its glossy, so during the day if you're in a bright area you can see reflections but it's not the end of the world. Synced up to my phone and google info quickly. All of my video apps for for it.
The BEST part that I noticed no one mentioning, is the speakers! These are by far the best speakers I've come across in a laptop. And an affordable one at that. So for movies or music it's really really good. That was one of the main reasons I went with this one.
Backlit keyboard is nice. Battery is decent. Overall for just a whatever casual laptop I would recommend. It probably wouldn't do well with hardcore video and photo editing but most people should know that..... it IS a chromebook.
As for gaming. Again its chrome so you cant use steam or steam games. Just games from the Google play store. They have a few decent ones on there and they worked fine.

1.0 out of 5 stars Garbage screen.
Terrible product. The screen broke on me TWICE!!!. So I ordered the laptop, and on startup, the screen was completely dark (brightness at 0%). I called Acer and they tried helping me but they ended up asking me to return it. I asked for a replacement. After 2 weeks of great usage, the touchscreen stopped working and a week later it went dark again. It was great when it worked with amazing battery life but I don't trust it anymore. Piece of garbage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value
We bought this for our daughter and we have found it to be just excellent. It does everything a young student requires, and has a very good build quality based around a sturdy chassis. The keyboard has a nice feel and the touchscreen is an unexpected bonus in a laptop at this price point. I was concerned about the lack of in-device storage, but this has not proven to be an issue at all (we have not used any of the 64Gb MiniSD card we purchased for it). The Chrome OS is very responsive on this hardware platform, and is faster than I expected. Chrome OS has a ton of software/apps available, and also does not create as much worry about viruses, etc. This machine does everything we need (and much more) and I would highly recommend this unit, especially for pre-teen and teenage students.

4.0 out of 5 stars good for students
I was nervous about buying a laptop off amazon but its actually pretty amazing. I've had this for roughly 2 months and so far, the battery life is amazing, I only have to charge it once every 2 days ish. I didn't even realize it had touch screen till I got it and its very lightweight. As a college student, I appreciate the fact that Microsoft apps are already in the play store so downloading it isnt a mission. My only issue is for some reason, on occasion, if I'm watching a video or streaming a show and pause for a minute, I come back and it starts making a weird car engine type sound but thats really my only issue
