K371 vs K371-BT | same ear pads, different cables, go K361-BT if you want wireless
    5 out of 5 stars
K371 vs K371-BT | same ear pads, different cables, go K361-BT if you want wireless
After doing some internet research I found the K371 to be the right headphone for me, but curiosity got the best of me when I was researching replacement pads for it. Some reviewers claimed that the pads were different between the BT and none BT models, however Dekoni claims the same pad works for both devices as well as the K361. Turns out the pads are exactly the same, though the felt experience is a bit different on the BT models because of the thicker ear cups.Other differences to note:(1) Sound - if you weren't doing a side by side you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between how the two sound, however the K371 seems slightly more rich in classical and folk music and the bass is cleaner to my ears. It also sounded like there was a click or very brief rattle in the BT model when heavy base hit, such as in Vaishiyas song "Arped". This may have been a defect, or it may be the BT module adding to the dynamic sound environment in an unpleasant way. Additionally, I had a weird channel separation sensation in my ears with the BT model that went away after a few hours of play time.(2) Cable/Connectors - The K371-BT uses a 4-pin XLR connector for the cable whereas the K371 uses a more common 3-pin XLR. The 4-pin cable having more conductors in the wire is also more stiff and unpleasant, as you may be able to see in the picture. FYI - the K361 uses a smaller aux connector, probably a 2.5mm, which actually makes more sense for the BT model since the 2.5mm female end takes up less space than a 4-pin XLR.(3) Usability - The BT model is really convenient, and I must say I feel hesitant to return it, however I think I would take the cost savings on the K361 and the convivence of the smaller cable connector. If you're shopping for the wireless option between the K371 and K361, go for the K361 or save for a higher end BT headphone. For the wired, I must say I am enjoying the K371 and see no need to try the K361, which is a bit cheaper. Other notes on BT--the range is great and I can walk 50ft to the breakroom or bathroom from my desk at work and still have good connection. The touch controls are fine, not perfect, but I found them better than not having any. Sometimes it seemed like the BT connection would randomly degrade after listening for over an hour or so and when connected to Windows 10, but I didn't have that issue on Android.

      Style: K371Pattern: HeadphonesVerified Purchase
To preface this review, audio is always subjective, especially when listening for fun. I prefer neutral headphones. I like to hear the whole track in a very analytical and detailed way. That means the lows, mids and highs are all evenly represented without any washing out, muffling or muddying of any piece of the song. My daily driver for all kinds of music is the Audeze LCD-X, a high end reference headphone that is considered by many to be too analytical and detailed for casual listening.

I've been in the market for closed back headphones for a bit now. I initially was planning to get some Meze 99 classics/neos. They are phenomenally light and comfortable and exceptionally well built. but after trying them I found that they tend towards being heavy in the bass which I found muffled the mids and left the highs with something to be desired. The other thing I didn't like was that the Mezes will "woof" leaving the enhanced bass muddy and fuzzed out, which is something a lot of people enjoy. I'm not one of them.

Now, onto the AKG 371s. These headphones are neutral. Not quite as neutral as the LCD-X. But comparing these AKGs to a pair of headphone that cost more than five to six times as much is unfair. But I think it's warranted since they punch up extremely well given their price tag. The 371s trend towards neutral sound, leaving the bass tight and clean, not overpowering the mids while leaving the high clear enough to listen to without becoming fatiguing or painful. Playing games with them is great, I can hear everything from the booming explosions of grenades and tank shells to the high pitched crack of gunfire while hearing footsteps all at once without it becoming muddled together or painful to listen to. Music is fantastically clear and enjoyable to listen to, they are easy to drive so you don't need a dedicated amp to get them to that comfortable volume you want. Even when I'm sitting six feet from a noisy swamp cooler that clarity sticks around making it easy to listen to what I want without damaging my hearing in the process.

They are light, but sturdy. They don't feel cheap, and have metal in the right places. They also have a removable cable, meaning they're way more likely to hold in the long term. They also fold up for easy storage or transport. The pads are leather and very plush, but big enough to accommodate my elephant ears. And on that note I've worn these for upwards of ten hours at a shot and they haven't gotten hot or uncomfortable to wear in that entire time.

The only real negative I have is if you have long hair, the hinges and pads might grab it if you're lazy when taking them off leading to a bit of pulling. But two handing them on and off completely mitigates that issue.

In short I love these headphones, and they're the best ones I've bought in this price bracket in a long time. They're not bass cannons, but they also weren't meant to be. If you want that bone shaking bass, look elsewhere.

But, if you want to hear what's really going on in that booming bass note. Or even just pick out some new bits of detail in your favorite song, maybe give these a shot. They'll be different to your classic gaming headset or Beats. But different can be fun.

Great tunning right out of the box. Decent bass out of the box. But great is not good enough for me. So gotta Equalize it.

Bring up the bass by cranking everything under 60hz to maximumz then bring up more mids and this thing destroys practically anything you compare it to. Deep sub bass approaching that of IEMs. Mid bass that mever bleeds but offers great support to the mids. Vocals are warm, rich, strong, never shouty and instruments got alot more meat and impact.

Of course you can always Equalize whatever you're comparing it to. Equalizer will improve just about anything you currently own.........provided you know what you're doing.

Update: the left earpad has split open. It's been less than 2 years. The pads are terrible and I just had to order a third-party replacement. Other than that, they have held up marvelously and I still whole-heartedly recommend them. Just be prepared to shell out 20 bucks a year or two down the road.

I bought these after my m40x cans died. I was originally going to buy the m50x's even though I didn't like them the last time I tried them. I need something that's neutral for my music production, and I don't have hundreds to shell out. I bought these on the recommendation of a friend. Compared to the m50x, they are more comfortable, less aggressive in their sound, use a mini XLR connector instead of that silly recessed mini jack, and have more modern styling.

The headband is comfy and the earcups are very plush. I think the silicone headband will last, but the pleather stuff never does. Feels good when new though.

As for sound, it is indeed quite neutral, but it's not unpleasant like the m50x. They're a little more mellowed out and much easier to listen to, especially over long sessions. It always takes me a day or two to get used to new headphones. Not so with these. My ears had adjusted within 3 hours or so. They are just so, so easy to listen to because of the tuning. The upper mids aren't in your face, and the sub bass is really well balanced. There's a tiny bit of mud around mid-bass. It's possible that's coming from my mixer.

There are a few things I dislike but are absolutely not dealbreakers:
      1. there is a very slight driver imbalance. This is probably within manufacturer tolerance and wouldn't be solved unless I spent more money. Most people probably won't notice.
      2. The included cable has a rather cheap-feeling jacketing. Good thing it uses an easy-to-find mini XLR jack that lets me buy new cables. To AKG's credit, they do at least provide a 1/4 inch TRS adapter to plug into studio equipment.
      3. The earcups don't swivel. I must admit, I did like that feature, fortunately the earcups do wiggle a bit to conform to your head and do still rotate upward for more compact stowing. It's really clever the way they spin around with satisfying clicks.

A note to long-haired users, these can tangle in your hair quite easily. Take care when removing them from your noggin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Une excellente alternative au beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 32 ohms.

Perfect quality for both, the build and the sound. As it can be expected from Harman and AKG. Highly recommend.

These arrived yesterday after i had returned a different open back rival at this price point. I had been very disappointed with them and after watching and reading countless reviews went ahead and ordered the K371s.
Opened the nicely packaged headphones to find 3 different leads - short one for your phone etc, longer one ( with the required adaptor) for use with a home stereo system and a coiled one for use in a studio.
The K371s are nicely made with decent build quality, not too big and they cut exterior noise out quite well.
Sound quality, to me, is very good and is able to handle most genres which the other ones i sent back did not. They are easily driven by my Android phone, volume can go more than high enough. Bass is good, not excessive and they just have a nice sound.
I have not had too many other headphones but id find it hard to imagine you could do better for the money. I would recommend these .

I'm just getting into over the ear headphones, but have a good idea on what good sound is. I'm overall very satisfied with the buy read along to know why. I'm a big sucker for Harman tuning and the tonality it provides hence this headphone has been on my radar for a while.

Sound signature: Theres tones of reviews talking bout these but here's my two cents. This closely follows the Harman curve with subtle differences I notice. The sub bass bump other people perceive at 30hz for me was at 50-60 hz. The mid was flat as a pancake with lower mid boost of around 2db 300-500hz which gives it some warmth not muddy as some people say. Treble was where I was a little disappointed, The overall nature is alright but I am extremely sensitive at 8khz (most people are) and most songs play into it giving it a bit of harshness Turn it down with an eq(2-4 dB depending on how it feels) to enjoy a more balanced sound. there is a big dip at 4hz probably around 5ish dB hence I could never see any studio professional using it.

Build and comfort : not much complains here the headband is plastic but wrapped with a soft touch material there is this weird silicon balloon instead of foam at headband which is comfortable enough. The earpads are large and comfortable I have very large protruding ears which have no problem at all. The provided cables are not particularly premium but gets the job done. The connection to the headphone is provided by the tried and tested locking mini XLR port should last you well. My biggest worry here is the rotating earcups that pivot point seems to wobble quite a bit and I can see it loosening or even breaking over time

      Use cases:
casual listening: Not a very fatiguing sound and great comfort. Do note for travel, these are bulky and heavy and don't isolate quite as well but it does fold up nice and small
Studio Use: Since the mid is flat and overall it has nice tonality and can be used for monitoring vocals or feedback to the singers. Not recommended for mixing (should be alright for small independent producers) you should be mixing with monitors anyway.
