  • Metal attachments, expandable grips, or credit cards will interfere with charging. Cases which contain metal, such as Pitaka, Evutec, and Spigen QNMP, will trigger foreign object detection and interrupt charging.
  • Power drain may be higher than charging speed while using a GPS app.
  • This wireless car charger detects temperature. When the temperature is higher than 45℃, the LED light will flash red, and the wireless car charger will stop working. Check your LED indicator and turn on your car’s air conditioner to the environment temperature at acceptable levels.

    A disappointed Anker fan

    A disappointed Anker fan
I own a lot of high quality value for money products from Anker - Qi chargers, cables, connectors, etc., and each of them are great.I took my time to write this because it felt very plastic-y and light when it came out of the box. Was expecting something that feels solid and sturdy in build quality. I love Anker, so I put my first impressions aside and used it for about 45 days before writing this. There’s nothing wrong with the front charging end. It’s perfectly fine, it charges fine. The snap release works like a dream. It’s the 'Car Vent Mount' bit that went completely wrong. The attachments to the vents and the phone are a big let down. Both versions. The bipod version is stable but bulky and awkward and touches the screen display in my car.The other low profile one is useless. Holds a bigger phone... but a bit like towing a truck with a fishing cable. Both clamps wobble when the car is on any surface besides tarmac. The issue:1. The vent holds don’t have a claw to prevent it from sliding out of the vent.2. The jaws don’t have protruding edges to prevent the phone from slipping out of the clamp.Since I had spent $60, I had to find a solution. The fix:Enter my sturdy old Square Jellyfish Car Vent Mount worth about $15.5... It is simple, has a low profile, no nonsense but tough as Hulk design. Never lets you down ... holds on to your phone like drowning man to a life raft. Protruding edges on the jaws to hold the phone and a steel vent clamp that has a curled edge that loops around the vent louver and holds onto it for dear life.In the pictures, if they upload, you will see how I took the rear assembly of the Square JF and attached it to the Anker. Surprisingly, all car mounts have a universal size ball joint size. As long as you use the original knob to attach the ball joint, it works like a dream. (Each knob has a different threading... so you have to use the original)The pictures tell the story of how this changes the profile and size of the Anker and made it work now... very well actually. On request I can take my Prado off-road to show you ;)As for my leftover $7.75 Square Jellyfish mount, it was too good to throw so I added its jaws to the vent clamp of another cheap but sturdy Vent holder. Voila! I have one for my wife now with a very small folded profile that doesn't keep reminding you - "Hey, I'm a phone a holder and I'm about to break your vents!"And this second phone can charge the old fashioned way with a cable from the thoughtfully provided two port car charger from Anker. :)

Over the last few years, when I need a technology based product (especially a power source product), I look to see what Anker has first. What I have received has made me incredibly loyal to their brand.

This product is no different. I pulled it out of the box and was once-again surprised to find a simple instruction manual that was easy to follow. Too many times in today's day and age companies simply send you to a YouTube video to figure out what your'e doing.

Following the manual, I was able to setup my new holder/charger in about 10 minutes. I did elect to use the optional three-leg mount for some added stability, so I had to switch out the standard mount for that. Most of my setup time was working with my car to hide the wire as best I could.

I've been using the product for over a week now with great results. My device gains charge during my commute, even while listening to an Audio book. (For reference: my daily commute is around 90 minutes and I'm using an iPhone 8)

I also carry an iPhone XR for work and the sliding base on the holder makes it easy to switch out which phone is on the charger at any given time.

Versatility, ease of use and reliability are the definitive "pros" of this device.

The only "con" I could see would be based on your vent system in your car. The three-leg attachment helps alleviate concern with the weight on your vents, though.

Update: Anker reached out, addressed my concerns and offered a refund for the item. While they didn't offer a solution - they state essentially that wireless charging can't keep up with the battery drain of a phone running mapping software - I find this satisfactory and am upping my rating to 4 stars.

This product was installed as a replacement cell phone holder in my 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan. I'll list the up and down sides and then a conclusion of my thoughts below.

      Positives:

My Tiguan has round vents which don't work well with vent mounted cell phone holders. The spacing between the vent slats is very narrow and most vent attachment devices don't fit between them. This charger's secondary vent adapter did grab the vent slat and the tripod style support kept the phone in place. I imagine on other cars the primary vent adapter would work fine.

However vent placement isn't ideal in the Tiguan - the vents on the driver's side of the Audio head unit are a bit too close to the steering wheel and left the phone at an awkward viewing angle. Fortunately the cup on the back of the cell phone holder portion was the same size and thread as the CD slot holder it was going to replace so I was able to Frankenstein the two together and use the CD Slot as the holding point for the charger.

The charger does hold the phone securely, albeit a little loosely in the arms. It ratchets down properly and opened when the button in pressed.

The Wireless charging worked well during the colder, cloudier weeks of March. The phone would display wireless fast charging as the mode of charging it was in and would recharge at an acceptable rate...

      Negatives:

Fast forward to mid April. I took a 200 or so mile road trip last weekend, using this charger. I left the house with a fairly full cell phone battery. After putting my destination into Waze and starting a podcast using Stitcher I head out over hill and over dale towards my destination...

About a hundred miles in I noticed that the battery percentage was lower than it was when I left. Not looking good for the charger... The phone was still showing wireless fast charging but it wasn't able to keep up with the power draw of Waze and Stitcher running with the screen on all the time... Bummer... Then a second issue appeared - one which isn't the charger's fault entirely - the temperature on the other side of those hills and dales was approaching 78 degrees... The phone and charger's backs were exposed to the sun coming through the window and the phone started to complain that it was too hot to wirelessly charge...

Now this is more of an issue with the placement of the charger and the phone than it is with the charger itself. When I cranked up the AC in the car and pointed the vents as best I could towards the phone/charger it resumed charging but still at a rate less than the total power draw of the apps and screen. I ultimately gave up on using the wireless charging function of this device and went back to charging directly from the DC adapter. Doing so created less heat and let the phone charge at rate faster than power was being consumed.

      Conclusion:

Had I purchased this charger later in the year I would have returned it. Perhaps the layout of your car will let you place the charger and phone away from direct exposure to sunlight and it will work better for you. Perhaps my Note 8 draws more power running nav and podcast apps than your phone does and it will work better for you. For me it's now just an expensive device that's convenient for around town to keep the phone charged but that falls short when heading out on road trips.

As such I cannot recommend this device to others.

I can tell you about how the device charge and how it is a life changer but that would be underwhelming.
However, I will mention that as a guy that is very picky that this device meet all my criteria. The wireless charging works on all phone with wireless charging even though it is designed for iPhones and Samsung device. If you know where the coil is then you have no problem working it to your use. The simple fact that it works on all phones with little modification to my driving routine. Use it a ton for work travel and need to pick up a rental. It helps keep my system in tact along with my fm transmitter.

Overall, great quality and a very happy user. Anker products rule.

      -EDIT-
Anker reached out after I returned my first unit and offered to ship me a replacement. My replacement works much better, so I’m updating this to five stars. Everything about it is top of the line Anker quality!

      -Original Review-

      Pro’s:
      -fast, reliable charging
      -strong grip on phone itself
      -easy to place/remove phone
      -includes cable and car adapter
-everything about this product is top notch Anker quality that I know and love in many other of their items except for one component, the grip that holds onto the vent.

      Con:
-neither clip/adapter had a strong grip on my vents (2015 Mazda 6 with vents that are pictured as compatible). The whole unit would wobble around even on smooth roads. And light bumps would loosen the grip and worsen the wobble. Maybe if the surface area of the grip was wider, it would be more stable. An adhesive layer for attaching to the vent find might also be an improvement.
