Increased Speed But Having Xbox Connectivity Issues

Increased Speed But Having Xbox Connectivity Issues
Pros: Fast, Better signal, price, WIFI range, signal strengthCons: Xbox connectivity issues (working on with customer service), Not all settings can be controlled from phone app, web interface is not user friendly for inexperienced usersMy old Linksys router did not handle the internet speeds I was paying for so I upgraded to this router and WOW, I saw my WIFI speeds and signal strength increase. I'm finally getting the internet speeds I pay for and love it. The signal strength is amazing, I now get a decent WIFI connection in my bedroom, which always seemed to be a dead zone with the old router. But even with all this good, I've had some bad. This router claims to be great for gaming yet our Xbox One often displays a moderate NAT Type, UPnP failed, slow upload and download speeds, connectivity issues, and lag that all started after switching to this router. I'm currently trying to resolve these issues with customer support but so far their responses, as helpful as they are trying to be, have been the equivalent of "poke it with a stick." Their suggestion was to split the bands, which they already were, and to run the Xbox on the 2.4GHz band which gave me even worse speeds (see photos). The user interface is also not that great. With my Linksys router, I was able to control EVERYTHING from the phone app but the Speedy app has a majority of the settings only accessible from the desktop interface. Most of the settings have no explanation as to how turning that specific setting on or off affects your network, again this was something I loved about the Linksys controls, I knew exactly what each setting did. For someone who knows a lot about WIFI settings, this may not be a big deal but for a budget router I think this is something that should be included as less experienced people will more than likely purchase this router.I've also had issues with the phone app saying that the router was offline when it was actually online and working properly. I have verified that the app and router are both up to date.I recommended this router to a friend and unfortunately, they are experiencing the same issues as I am having so I know this isn't a one-off. I'm hopeful we can get everything sorted out because overall this is a really nice router and has provided me everything I was looking for excluding the Xbox issues. At this point in time, I am not planning on returning it even with the issues I have experienced.Images attached are the speeds I was getting with my Linksys router(1) and the Speedefy router(2), this was prior to and just after changing routers. The speeds I get on the Xbox while connected to the 5GHz band(3&4) and the 2.4GHz band(5&6). All speed tests were run in the same room, the Xbox tests were run with nothing else connected to or using the network.UPDATE:: I was able to achieve better WIFI speeds in the Xbox after speaking with Customer Service and messing with the channels versus letting it auto choose a channel. I do feel they handled the issues well, but I have purchased a CAT 8 cable and will now connect my Xbox to the router that way. Still love the router and still recommend it.UPDATE 2:: I ended up purchasing a different router. Although this one was fast I was unable to resolve my box issues even with hardwiring it. Since changing back to a Linksys router all my issues have been resolved. It seems my issues were from needing to open ports and you are unable to do this unless you pay a monthly subscription fee to them. No thank you, this is a feature offered free on every other router out there. This is why I have decreased the star rating on this router. Definitely not worth the hassle I went through with this router.Final update: I was able to easily get a refund after contacting Speedefy's customer support center. Customer support was super helpful and speedy in getting the refund issued.
    Thank you for your feedback

5.0 out of 5 stars This easy to use, feature rich router is a great value..
Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2020
    To Start:
I have been working with wireless Ethernet since it was first rolled out. They have been a part of my employment as well as home for a very long time. My current home internet is where the router was installed. I Have a cable modem at 100mb download speed and around 10mb upload.
The router arrived a couple days after ordering. I was surprised at the size of the box. It was much larger and lighter than I had expected. I was surprised once again when I had opened the box. The unit was assembled with the antennae already attached. At first I thought there was a lot of waste, but then I went back and looked at the packaging fro my last router. There was a large amount of plastic everywhere. The paper product packaging was refreshing and I believe would be recyclable or at least break down properly in a landfill.
5 minutes after opening the package, I had it plugged in and ready to go.

    The App:
I hate the software that comes with most communications equipment. I usually give up on the software, and configure them manually. Having said that, I did read the Quick Start Guide, and thought I would give it a try. I was very pleasantly surprised how easy it was to use the Android based version of the App. In less than a minute, the router was up and running in a basic and secure configuration.
The App has a simplified interface that should allow a large majority of people to access the settings they need. In addition, the web based interface is also available if desired, or to set up some of the more 'technical' features. It also has built-in apps that allow the security of the settings to be checked, and the channel settings to be adjusted for maximum performance.
In the basic setup, it should work extremely well for a user that just wants to plug it in and go. It is however very rich in advanced features that will allow most users to get it to do exactly what they need with a minimum of effort.

    Performance:
The first thing I noticed was how fast it attaches to my devices, and how 'speedy' it was compared with my other WiFi routers. Claims about interference and signal strength are very real. All of this equates to greater range and much faster transfer speeds at greater distance.
Even with 3 computers, 5 phones, 2 Roku TV, an XBOX 1, two internet enabled switches and an internet thermostat attached, the router did not skip a beat during streaming and browsing. I cannot say that for the other, more expensive router I have.
The area it is installed in has a lot of interference that causes issue with my other router. I have not seen any issues with interference with this router.

    Customer Support:
I used email customer support to ask some questions. They responded very quickly and with information that was useful.

    Shortfalls:
I do not see any serious issues with the K7.
A feature that is available elsewhere that I really do like is an email feature to let me know when someone is trying to hack in to the router. This has been handy in the past but really not necessary.

    Conclusions:
    1) This router allows very easy setup for basic users, and features that should allow users to customize the router to fit their needs.
    2) It is resistant to interference and has a fantastic range.
    3) It has two very easy to use interfaces.
    4) It allows many users on many devices be fully active at any time.
    5) The price is very competitive.
    6) customer support is fast and helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Affordably Perfect for a Tech-Heavy Family
Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2020
I wanted to set up a Home VPN, but often times VPNs (though they say they work) block treasured streaming services like Netflix and Hulu. I still wanted to protect most of my family’s and my devices from the outside world. I have little ones and a teenager that seem to go everywhere in Cyberspace. The solution, I decided, would be to have one VPN router and one home base router for my smart TV's.

While my current router is enabled for VPN, I wanted to purchase a very affordable router to serve as my home base so that I can connect my smart TVs to the WI-FI and not be hindered from streaming blocks. After a thorough search, I came across the extremely affordable Speedefy AC2100 - K7 that fit the bill. Will it handle the load of all the devices on our Network without issue? I purchased the router, and so far without problems, it has worked perfectly. Did the router handle…
My son’s gaming (Xbox 360)? Check!
The cell phones (sometimes 4)? Check!
The Echo Dots (there are 4)? Check!
The Smart TVs (sometimes 4 going at once!)? Check!
The Nintendo Switch (2 of them)? Check!
    Fire Tablets? Check!
My gaming (Xbox One and PS4)? Check!
    I-pad? Check!
    Family desktop? Check!
    My work laptop? Check!
Several Chrome books (at once for school)? Check!
    Streaming Boxes/Sticks? Check!

Did we have signal problems? No!
Did we have connection issues? No!
Did we have issues with multiple devices being used at the same time especially in the evening when everybody is home? No!

For an affordable router, it is pretty powerful. Most of my devices are connected to the 5 Ghz band, and I was able to set-up a guest network. I hate letting people know my password.

Furthermore, it was extremely easy to set-up, and once that was done, use. The process took me 5 minutes from box to signal. The box contained the router with 7 antennas already attached (do you know how I hated screwing on the antennas on other brands? They still aren’t right). These antennas are tight and have yet to slip or droop. The router signal covers the entire house with a good signal (we live in a two story home with 4 bedrooms and a basement). There were two cords: the Ethernet cord (generous in length) and power adapter. With a simple connect to the cable modem, and a simple connect to the power outlet, it was on. I also liked the fact it had only ONE light! No more hypnotic blinking lights mucking up the room where it is located! How nice to have one simple light telling me it was working. Using the quick connect guide in the box, I easily used my laptop to configure the modem, and the with the easy to use app (downloaded from the Android App store), I was able to do the rest. I set up the guest network, renamed the modem, and changed the password. I can also use the app to monitor devices, block devices, and configure devices. Did I purchase the right home base for all my needs? Check!

Thank you, Speedefy for an excellent product. I will look to you in the future for further Wifi needs.
