From From Being Perfect, But Close Enough To Satisfy
Disclaimer: I'm an avid Amazon product fan. I have almost every Amazon product ever created from inception. I also bought these Echo Buds when they were discounted by USD 40.00.Summary: I have had the Echo Buds for just a little over a month and I am pleasantly surprised. For USD 90.00 (price when I got them) and even for the current price they delivered a great experience. Alexa can hear me about 95% of the time successfully. The noise reduction, and yes, reduction, not cancelation, works extremely well and blocks most sounds from around me. The pass-through is amazing since I can walk into the store or any place and hear everything around me. I would say that it is not a true pass-through, as it still feels like it blocks some sounds, but definitely you can hear clearly what's around you. The design is nice and comfortable and I'll get into those details. I'm very surprised that people are so disappointed at it, and that is not been my experience at all, even from a fan experience.PROS-- Design: Aesthetically pleasing and not as obnoxious as other similar popular products. The design looks neat and feels high quality.-- Functionality: I love the function of side touches and the fact that is customizable. For me, on my left ear tap and hold skips song, but on my right, the same actually pauses the music. And it works extremely well. The bass is well balanced and the high tones don't disappoint. All work through the Alexa app which I honestly love since it is well integrated, just like the many other Amazon products. The setup was relatively quick and easy which was expected. What I do love, is that it has a sensor, so when you take either bud out, it pauses music, and then put it back on, it continues.-- Durability: I do take care of my products a lot but unfortunately I have dropped these earphones at least 5 times, both, cases and earphones from a heigh of at least 3-5 feet. They have done very well. A few scratches on the case but not a deal-breaker. Functionally works well.-- Battery: I have tested it for just over a month and I use them on and off at work and during my commute. Sometimes I use both and sometimes one at a time. Needless to say, I haven't had an issue so far running out of battery. I use them around 5 hours a day and never run out of juice. I charge the case about once every 3-5 days without an issue.-- Calls: The quality of the calls is fine for me. As for my recipient, they can tell that I am not directly on my phone, but there is a gap between my microphone and my mouth. So in other words, I sound a bit distant. I think this can be easily fixed with a software update.-- Noise Reduction: The noise reduction is exactly that, reduction, which works great. It greatly reduces the outside noise extremely well.CONS-- Connection: Let me get started that I have a Pixel 3 (Android 10). It connects almost instantly as soon as I put them on my ears. However, around 5 of the time, they randomly disconnect or simply can't connect. The good thing is that they disconnect but the sound doesn't continue on the phone, which is what I like. Also, most of the time there is an issue when speaking to Alexa even when my app is not open, but in another 5% of times, I need to open it so it can hear me.-- Settings: Amazon!!!!!! Seriously, you need to give us the flexibility to change languages on every device, including the buds. A lot of us speak in more than one language, so I hate that by default it sets the language to the language of your phone's system, and YOU CAN'T change it. C'mon Amazon!!!! Add multi-languages or at least let us change the languages when we want.-- Calls: The person that I call can hear me very well, however, I wish that they could hear me better since other competing products seem to do this function better. Also, another issue I notice is that when I tell it to call my Mom, it asks me "Is (contact's name) your mom?" and if I say yes, it says it will save it for next time. But next time doesn't work either, it never saved it.-- Noise Reduction: Yes, that is a con as well since they should also work on full noise cancelation.-- Alexa Calls: If I already have the Echo Buds on, and make a video call, the video doesn't work. Even when I'm at my home. However, if I have them off, make the video call, and then put them on, it works well. I think this should get fix since its inconvenient to take them off to be able to make an Alexa video call, even when I'm standing still.Summary: I bought them for a fairly good discount, and they are truly worth every penny. They do great noise reduction, works well with calls and can do the usual Alexa commands. But it does lack the language flexibility, it has some connectivity issues, and Alexa video call integration needs to be fixed. Aside from that, you can probably drop them a few times without any worries, the battery is very descent, and the customizable settings (bass, equalizer, pass-through) area really cool and well thought of. Are they worth USD 129? NO. Are they worth USD 99.99? YES.Amazon, if you really want to win customer satisfaction, as a big plus, give us the option to actually be able to make calls to phone numbers without having to use our carrier minutes.I'll edit as the months go by and if I get a chance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice modern look, Amazing noise cancelling, Bass that slaps, A bit bulky
Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2020
Pros
They have a nice premium look. Sleek, modern and professional. It’s one of those headphones that just seem like they are supposed to be in your ears. It’s “natural”. In fact, the look was the best selling point for me. I wanted something that looked good and also solved my wired problem. I got with these headphones

Easy to setup. The instructions are clear and concise. If you have had bluetooth headphones before you can set it up without the Alexa app. But you sacrifice some convenience and useful options in exchange.

The fit kit has many sizes for your fit. I wouldn’t worry about that,

Noise cancellation is amazing on these. You have the option to let noise through with the “passthrough” technology. When you download the Alexa app on the iPhone, you have the option to activate noise cancelling from it. You can pick the level of passthrough to allow a lot more noise or less. When you have noise cancelling on, you could completely miss your train. Mind you, you can hear some noise but it’s gotta be loud. You will not be able to hear someone talking to you at all. It’s still difficult to hear someone if you have one of the bud in your ear, especially if they’re flanking you on the side with the earbud on with.

There is an equalizer option but I’ve never used it. I’ll make no comment on it.

I’m no sound snob so my opinion is good for an average user but nothing further. The sound quality is great. The voices are clear for music and video. The bass will have you bobbing your head in synch with the tempo. You can crank up or down the bass and treble with the equalizer in the app. The microphone is clear during phone calls. I’m actually often surprised about its performance. They’re just as good as the airpods and better than the airpods 2 with the noise cancelling. FAR better

Cons

Bulky. I have small ear canals. These are quite bulky even with the smallest sized fit for the ears. They sometimes make me feel congested because of the pressure in my ear. If I move too brusquely, I knock them out of my ears. So if you’re a runner or have small ear canals, I do not recommend these. But if if you’re just on your feet walking and sitting even for long periods of time, I will recommend these. I can forget they’re on despite the bulkiness.

Connectivity can be inconsistent. Once you connect to the earbuds on iPhone, it is a solid connection with great range. However connecting has a small lag from when you close the case to after opening it. You can’t put the earbuds back in the case, close it for 5 mins and just reopen them and jam them back into your ears. You have to allow maybe 2-5 secs to reconnect to your phone otherwise it doesn’t connect at all. But if you keep the case opened, you can put them on or off any time. It keeps the connection.

When at elevation (bunk bed high), both earphones may not work at the same time. I don’t know if it’s where I live or the earbuds themselves. I find it’s not a problem anywhere other than my bedroom. It always works outside of that so this may just be anecdotal.

Final thoughts
Overall, amazing noise cancel
