I have been working with wireless Ethernet since it was first rolled out. They have been a part of my employment as well as home for a very long time. My current home internet is where the router was installed. I Have a cable modem at 100mb download speed and around 10mb upload.
The router arrived a couple days after ordering. I was surprised at the size of the box. It was much larger and lighter than I had expected. I was surprised once again when I had opened the box. The unit was assembled with the antennae already attached. At first I thought there was a lot of waste, but then I went back and looked at the packaging fro my last router. There was a large amount of plastic everywhere. The paper product packaging was refreshing and I believe would be recyclable or at least break down properly in a landfill.
5 minutes after opening the package, I had it plugged in and ready to go.
The App:
I hate the software that comes with most communications equipment. I usually give up on the software, and configure them manually. Having said that, I did read the Quick Start Guide, and thought I would give it a try. I was very pleasantly surprised how easy it was to use the Android based version of the App. In less than a minute, the router was up and running in a basic and secure configuration.
The App has a simplified interface that should allow a large majority of people to access the settings they need. In addition, the web based interface is also available if desired, or to set up some of the more 'technical' features. It also has built-in apps that allow the security of the settings to be checked, and the channel settings to be adjusted for maximum performance.
In the basic setup, it should work extremely well for a user that just wants to plug it in and go. It is however very rich in advanced features that will allow most users to get it to do exactly what they need with a minimum of effort.
Performance:
The first thing I noticed was how fast it attaches to my devices, and how 'speedy' it was compared with my other WiFi routers. Claims about interference and signal strength are very real. All of this equates to greater range and much faster transfer speeds at greater distance.
Even with 3 computers, 5 phones, 2 Roku TV, an XBOX 1, two internet enabled switches and an internet thermostat attached, the router did not skip a beat during streaming and browsing. I cannot say that for the other, more expensive router I have.
The area it is installed in has a lot of interference that causes issue with my other router. I have not seen any issues with interference with this router.
Customer Support:
I used email customer support to ask some questions. They responded very quickly and with information that was useful.
Shortfalls:
I do not see any serious issues with the K7.
A feature that is available elsewhere that I really do like is an email feature to let me know when someone is trying to hack in to the router. This has been handy in the past but really not necessary.
Conclusions:
1) This router allows very easy setup for basic users, and features that should allow users to customize the router to fit their needs.
2) It is resistant to interference and has a fantastic range.
3) It has two very easy to use interfaces.
4) It allows many users on many devices be fully active at any time.
5) The price is very competitive.
6) customer support is fast and helpful.

While my current router is enabled for VPN, I wanted to purchase a very affordable router to serve as my home base so that I can connect my smart TVs to the WI-FI and not be hindered from streaming blocks. After a thorough search, I came across the extremely affordable Speedefy AC2100 - K7 that fit the bill. Will it handle the load of all the devices on our Network without issue? I purchased the router, and so far without problems, it has worked perfectly. Did the router handle…
My son’s gaming (Xbox 360)? Check!
The cell phones (sometimes 4)? Check!
The Echo Dots (there are 4)? Check!
The Smart TVs (sometimes 4 going at once!)? Check!
The Nintendo Switch (2 of them)? Check!
Fire Tablets? Check!
My gaming (Xbox One and PS4)? Check!
I-pad? Check!
Family desktop? Check!
My work laptop? Check!
Several Chrome books (at once for school)? Check!
Streaming Boxes/Sticks? Check!
Did we have signal problems? No!
Did we have connection issues? No!
Did we have issues with multiple devices being used at the same time especially in the evening when everybody is home? No!
For an affordable router, it is pretty powerful. Most of my devices are connected to the 5 Ghz band, and I was able to set-up a guest network. I hate letting people know my password.
Furthermore, it was extremely easy to set-up, and once that was done, use. The process took me 5 minutes from box to signal. The box contained the router with 7 antennas already attached (do you know how I hated screwing on the antennas on other brands? They still aren’t right). These antennas are tight and have yet to slip or droop. The router signal covers the entire house with a good signal (we live in a two story home with 4 bedrooms and a basement). There were two cords: the Ethernet cord (generous in length) and power adapter. With a simple connect to the cable modem, and a simple connect to the power outlet, it was on. I also liked the fact it had only ONE light! No more hypnotic blinking lights mucking up the room where it is located! How nice to have one simple light telling me it was working. Using the quick connect guide in the box, I easily used my laptop to configure the modem, and the with the easy to use app (downloaded from the Android App store), I was able to do the rest. I set up the guest network, renamed the modem, and changed the password. I can also use the app to monitor devices, block devices, and configure devices. Did I purchase the right home base for all my needs? Check!
Thank you, Speedefy for an excellent product. I will look to you in the future for further Wifi needs.
